Lendlease Unveils Mixed-Use Development for Birmingham Smithfield

Smithfield Birmingham, a joint venture between Birmingham City Council and Lendlease, will create a new city centre destination with homes, jobs, green spaces, and vibrant cultural attractions.

Smithfield Birmingham is a major regeneration project being delivered through a joint venture between Birmingham City Council and Lendlease, a leading integrated real estate group with international investment capabilities.

Set to transform 17 hectares of Birmingham’s city centre, Smithfield will deliver more than 3,000 new homes alongside an extensive network of green infrastructure and public spaces, creating an iconic new destination that celebrates the area’s rich history. The development will also introduce new cultural and leisure attractions, vibrant retail markets, and space for start-ups, small businesses, and entrepreneurs, supporting a dynamic and inclusive city centre economy.

During the construction period, Smithfield Birmingham is expected to create around 9,000 jobs, including supporting 1,000 people back into work and delivering over 300 apprenticeships. The project is central to Birmingham’s long-term growth strategy, delivering social, economic and environmental benefits while reinforcing the city’s international standing.
