Birmingham Tech Week 2025: Where Global Tech Innovation Meets Investment
This week, the West Midlands once again proved why it stands at the heart of the UK’s fast-growing tech economy, as Birmingham Tech Week 2025 brought together global innovators, investors, entrepreneurs and thought leaders for five days of inspiration, ideas, and opportunity.
Now in its seventh year, Birmingham Tech Week has become the UK’s largest regional technology festival and a global platform showcasing how the West Midlands is driving digital transformation, nurturing talent and R&D, and redefining the boundaries of innovation.
From artificial intelligence to cybersecurity, and from women in tech to frontier technologies, this year’s programme reflected a region with momentum – a connected, confident and creative ecosystem that’s scaling globally.
Rewriting the Digital Playbook
The week began with the Digital Skills Symposium, setting the tone for a future-focused conversation. As technology evolves faster than ever, so must our mindset.
The day continued with a Women in Tech session where women from across the West Midlands’ tech community challenged stereotypes and redefined what tech leadership looks and sounds like – reminding us that the future of technology isn’t just about innovation, but representation, perspective, and possibility.
Connecting International Investment and West Midlands Opportunity
On Wednesday, the West Midlands welcomed international delegates from 17 countries for the Global Investment Frontiers Showcase – a dynamic platform highlighting the region’s frontier investment opportunities and its role in the UK’s tech sector.
The showcase celebrated a globally connected ecosystem built on collaboration and competitiveness, and demonstrated how the region is attracting capital, talent and innovation from around the world.
Running alongside this session was the AI Symposium, where leaders and experts explored how Artificial Intelligence is transforming business, productivity, and society. From applied AI in manufacturing to enterprise-level automation, the message was clear – the West Midlands isn’t just adopting AI, it’s helping to define it.
The day also saw the inaugural Frontiers Day, which explored how technology will reshape the future. From virtual worlds to real-world design, frontiers showed the audience that the West Midlands is not just a hub of innovation but a place shaping the future.
Scaling Up and Sustaining Growth
Thursday’s Scale Up Summit celebrated the founders and entrepreneurs driving growth across the region. From start-up pitches to scale-up success stories, the event championed the qualities that define the West Midlands – innovation, adaptability, and unmatched ambition.
Meanwhile, our CyberVerse session brought together experts tackling one of the most pressing global challenges – cybersecurity. The session explored how the West Midlands is using predictive technologies, AI-powered protection and human awareness to create a safer digital space. For the West Midlands, cybersecurity isn’t just an IT issue – it’s an economic priority.
The West Midlands Growth Company, in conjunction with S&W and DBT, hosted a networking reception welcoming international delegates to foster meaningful connections and collaborations.
