Allegis Global Solutions Case Study

When Allegis Global Solutions (AGS) looked for a new location to open its latest recruitment delivery centre, it knew exactly what key criteria the destination had to fulfil.
Allegis, Investing in the West Midlands.

As a leading provider of global talent acquisition and staffing management solutions, it required an educated, multi-lingual workforce, with a global outlook, and a city that was well connected to the rest of the world.

AGS offers clients a global perspective that spans five continents, and this requires its staff to have the same global vision, wherever they are located. That is why the company decided to choose the West Midlands as the location to expand its UK operations, meeting the demand from its growing client base, which includes FTSE 100 companies in the finance, healthcare, manufacturing and technology industries.

Why are you relocating?

The new centre is located in the Birmingham’s most recent, collaborative workspace, Alpha Works, which is based in the iconic Alpha Birmingham building. AGS was one of the first companies to take advantage of the newly opened facility, opening its office in May 2017.

Why the West Midlands?

Speaking about why Birmingham was selected, Phil Cooper, vice president of operations, EMEA region at Allegis Global Solutions, commented:

“Birmingham was the obvious choice for us as we wanted to establish ourselves in a city with a highly educated – more than 120,000 university graduate students are in close proximity – and diverse demographic. This access to an incredible amount of high-quality candidates lends us the scalability we need as we grow.

“As a fast-expanding global company with more than 30 offices around the world, we wanted to make sure we positioned ourselves in a city with globally-minded, ambitious and linguistically diverse professionals. We’re excited about the opportunity to grow here in Birmingham.”

What the West Midlands offers

Birmingham’s language diversity and number of business students, which is greater than any other city outside of the capital, and the city’s high-frequency of UK, European and US flights, meant the UK’s second city was first choice for AGS.

Nicola Hewitt, Commercial Director at the West Midlands Growth Company, added:

“Allegis Global Solutions is the latest in a string of high-profile, international companies investing in Birmingham. The region’s growing talent pool and vibrant demographic continues to serve as a major draw for competitive businesses with an ambitious vision for growth.

“This is a clear example of how Birmingham’s global outlook, its diversity and understanding of the international market, are all making the city an obvious choice for major organisations worldwide”.
