Headquartered in London but with offices around the world, the company has operations in Europe, the US, Asia, Latin America and Australia.

In 2018, Beazley expanded its presence in Birmingham as part of its drive to grow its UK regional insurance market activities. Increasing capacity for up to 150 staff, the firm’s new Birmingham office is home to its out-of-London operational support centre for its UK and European business. Beazley’s robotics team, responsible for developing automated processes to streamline tasks for its underwriters, is also based at the site.

Occupying new, state of the art offices, the company’s Birmingham-based underwriters were among the first to benefit from its new workplace strategy to transform its flagship offices into agile working spaces. Designed with collaboration and flexibility in mind, Beazley’s Birmingham hub has an abundance of co-working spaces, adjustable desks and climate-conscious meeting rooms. Its Birmingham office acted as a template for renovating its other offices around the world, including in Toronto, New York and London.

Why Birmingham?

Birmingham is home to the largest cluster of Business, Professional and Financial Services firms of any UK city outside of London. Positioned at the heart of the region, the city offers insurance firms like Beazley access to a wealth of talent, with over 358,000 people in the West Midlands working in the sector – the highest number outside of the capital.

Feeding this vast pool of skilled professionals are the region’s nine universities, which together educate a larger number of business students than any other region in the UK.

Ian Fantozzi, Chief Operating Officer at Beazley, said:

“Birmingham’s position as a financial services hub and its rich talent pool made it the obvious choice for Beazley to build an operational base outside London.”

The diversity of the region’s local economy and sector strengths also made the firm’s new office a valuable investment.

Opening up new business and client opportunities that would have been difficult to access in London, Beazley has been able to tap into the SME market, as well as taking advantage of the large variety and volume of mid corporates based in the region.

Since expanding, the firm has increased its service specialisms to include medical malpractice, management liability and professional indemnity, as well as other lines.
