What it offers the West Midlands?

Chung Ying Cantonese was the first Chinese restaurant in what is now known as Birmingham’s Chinatown. Originally a stand-alone venue, Chung Ying’s investment in the city has seen the business expand significantly, with three different, successful restaurants now operating in the city centre. Chung Ying Group now employs around 100 staff – from front of house staff to expert chefs.

Chung Ying Cantonese and Chung Ying Garden are both located in the heart of the city’s Chinese Quarter, surrounded by a cluster of Far-Eastern themed supermarkets, restaurants and bars, and the Arcadian – known for offering the largest dim sum selection in the UK, with over 100 choices. Chung Ying Central can be found in the city’s business district, a stone’s throw from Birmingham New Street Station and the city’s retail and cultural centre.

What the West Midlands offers Chung Ying

Birmingham continues to provide opportunities; its diversity and vibrancy sets it apart from other cities, allowing businesses like Chung Ying to really thrive.

The West Midlands Growth Company has supported this journey by increasing Chung Ying’s visibility; digital and PR support have played a big part in this, as well as the chance to get involved in campaigns aimed at profiling the strength of the region’s lifestyle and culinary offer.

James Wong, Managing Director at Chung Ying Restaurant Group, commented:

“We’re proud Brummies, and our family-run business just had to be located in one of the best cities in Europe!

“We continue to see business from increased tourism, with many visitors flocking to the city for its festival scene and the range of large-scale events that take place here. Birmingham’s central location, connectivity, and family-friendly offer make the city an obvious choice for restaurants like ours.

“The city’s leading universities attract students from around the world, and the ongoing investment in new infrastructure is also helping to bring in professionals to the city. All of this is making Birmingham a great place to visit and live in, helping our business go from strength to strength”.
