Globally headquartered in Bengaluru, India, Enzen combines a passion for knowledge and research with innovative technologies to advise companies across the power, water, gas and renewables industries on best practice in digitalisation, decentralisation and decarbonisation, as routes to driving positive change around the world.

The company’s Solihull office employs around 200 people and has been instrumental in growing its international client footprint, which now spans over 40 countries. Further offices are located in Australia, Spain and Turkey.

Manish Jamthe, Chief Executive Officer of Enzen UK, said:

“Our vision is to create an environment where knowledge and innovation work hand-in-hand to create globally shared social benefits. Our head office in Solihull is integral to achieving these ambitions, facilitating vast opportunities to connect with the brightest minds shaping the future of the utilities industry.”

Why the West Midlands?

The West Midlands’ network of world-class universities and research-led innovation was a major draw for Enzen in choosing Solihull as the headline site of its UK operations.

Since moving to Blythe Valley, the company has established close links with the University of Warwick through the institution’s onsite Innovation Centre – one of four sites across the region offering dedicated incubator space to help knowledge and tech-focused businesses to grow.

Enzen has employees studying for postgraduate qualifications at the university, and is well-placed to draw on the wider region’s strong pipeline of inquisitive, industry-ready talent. Nearly 60,000 students graduate from West Midlands universities each year, approximately a third of which are qualified in core STEM subjects, providing employers such as Enzen with a thriving pool of aspirational talent to hire from.

This is bolstered by an established employment base across the region, home to high-profile employers and industry influencers in the utility sector such as Severn Trent, Ofwat, Cadent and National Grid.

Since setting up in the West Midlands, Enzen has firmly embedded itself as an international force for industry innovation. In 2018, it launched a worldwide competition to uncover innovative ideas and concepts from individuals, organisations, academics and entrepreneurs around the world.

The finals were held in Birmingham in May 2019 and the finalists – shortlisted from 700 entries – received mentoring and incubation support from Enzen to help take their ideas to market.

Jamthe added:

“At the beating heart of the West Midlands is an intensely vibrant and welcoming culture, making it an ideal location for businesses, like ours, that are centred on sharing insights and experiences. The region’s convenient location at the centre of the UK, coupled with its internationally-focused outlook, offers us a comforting landing ground for growth that’s well-aligned to our global aspirations.

“Inspiring change through innovation and collaboration is the core of our business, both in the UK and overseas. With an ecosystem built around academic-industry knowledge transfer, the West Midlands is the perfect illustration of a place that understands the widespread opportunities – both economic and social – that can be productively achieved by working together.”

Enzen is among a portfolio of investors from India that have expanded into the UK and European markets from the West Midlands, creating an emerging corridor for trade and investment opportunities.
