Birmingham Airport

In the heart of the UK, BHX is a growing regional airport, contributing over £1.6bn to wider West Midlands economy.

Serving around 14m passengers a year and investing around £300m over the next 4 years, BHX is on its way to responsible growth, providing more choice to passengers than ever before.

BHX serves as a pivotal hub for the UK’s 2nd city outside of London. 2025 was its busiest ever year on record, serving nearly 14m passengers, choosing from around 40 airlines serving 140 direct destinations, or 650 one stops. As a growing regional airport, investment is being pumped into all corners of the airport as it embarks on its most ambitious capital investment programme, spending around £300m over 4 years across the airfield and terminal assets.

With the airport’s growth comes economic value with the site employing around 9,000 people across all companies operating at the airport. Nine hundred of these are directly employed by the airport and with passenger forecasts set to increase, so too are the number of jobs. Given the growth and employment at BHX it is easy to see how it contributes to £1.6bn GVA, which is expected to rise to £2.1bn by the early 2030s.

BHX is not only on its way to more passengers and choice, but also more jobs and economic benefits as one of the West Midlands largest employers.

We are delighted to be at UKREiiF in the year that our airport undertakes its next Masterplan. Publicly consulting later this year, people will be able to see what the airport will look like in the future and also the benefits that will bring. We continue to deliver sustainable and steady growth returning £1.6bn GVA to the region. It is important we are at major events like this showcasing our role in the UKs 2nd largest city.
