How EcoFlow expanded their European operations
In 2025, EcoFlow made a strategic move to grow its presence. As a global leader in portable power, solar technology, and smart home energy solutions, EcoFlow had already established a foothold in international markets, including the US and Germany. The company then set its sights on the UK, targeting it as the next key market for sustainable growth.
The move marks a significant milestone in the company’s European expansion and strengthens the region’s growing reputation as a centre for green technology and low-carbon innovation.
The Challenge
EcoFlow’s decision was supported by the increasing demand for both portable and residential clean energy solutions in the UK – a clear reflection of rising awareness and societal shift towards green, sustainable living. With global energy prices rising, families and businesses no longer view clean energy as a premium alternative, but rather, as an essential component of modern living and operations.
With EcoFlow perfectly placed to service this growing consumer mindset, it required a UK home where advancements in green energy and sustainable technology weren’t simply predicated, but already taking shape.
The Solution
After assessing the strategic advantages of various locations across the UK, EcoFlow selected Birmingham as the location for its new UK headquarters.
Opening our Birmingham headquarters is not only a sign of our rapid UK growth but also our commitment to the region’s future.
In the West Midlands, talent in emerging industries has always thrived. Driven by a spirit of innovation and a willingness to challenge the status quo, the region has evolved from the UK’s industrial core into a leading hub for clean-tech scale-ups – supported by world-class universities, R&D hubs, and accelerators designed to keep ambitious leaders at the very forefront of innovation.
For EcoFlow, this represented a rich opportunity.
By strategically positioning itself alongside a dynamic cluster of leading universities, such as the University of Birmingham, Aston University and Birmingham City University, EcoFlow stands to leverage one of Europe’s youngest and most diverse talent pools.
We are proud to be creating jobs in Birmingham, working with partners nationwide, and sharing our expertise with university students to inspire the next generation of clean energy leaders.
EcoFlow’s ambitions in the region were championed by the West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC), who engaged with the company to build out their strategic business case in the region. Setting the stage for EcoFlow’s smooth market entry and a lasting partnership that saw the WMGC guide the firm through several city centre HQ viewings, designed to offer scope and connectivity to match the organisation’s ambitions.
WMGC’s support in potential HQ visits led EcoFlow to the Bruntwood University Centre, a site based in the heart of Birmingham with seamless access to vital transport links, including New Street Station and the planned HS2 Curzon Street Station. Following negotiations that included the WMGC, it became apparent that Bruntwood, with their commitment to fostering high-growth, innovation-led businesses in the West Midlands, were an ideal partner for EcoFlow.
The Impact
EcoFlow’s decision to scale in Birmingham was first orchestrated by the Mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker, during the UK’s largest trade mission to China in six years. Where the message was delivered: the West Midlands is open, competitive, and ready to lead in green energy innovation.
EcoFlow is a fast-growing company…now they are investing in the West Midlands. This deal will deliver real benefits for local people—good jobs, greener power storage, and a boost to our energy sector. Our region is open for business.
Thirty-five new jobs across engineering, customer service, marketing, and business development are set to be created from EcoFlow’s arrival – strengthening the company’s commitment to both the West Midlands and the UK’s green economy.
This commitment is underpinned by confidence. Backed by a clear vision and growing momentum, the West Midlands is already taking bold steps to lead the UK’s green revolution and define the future of sustainable innovation.
The West Midlands Investment Zone itself is a gateway for investment in battery storage and technology through its anchor tenant, UKBIC. In Wolverhampton, the Green Innovation Corridor is building on the region’s existing green credentials by pioneering modern methods of construction using sustainable practices.
Alongside the region’s plans to nurture the next generation of green leaders, EcoFlow aims to equip regional students with the tools and knowledge to succeed in clean energy.
The Future
EcoFlow’s decision marks the beginning of a growth journey that will see further collaboration with the West Midlands Growth Company. Through its inclusion in the WMGC’s Global Growth Programme, EcoFlow is set to tap into a powerful, fully funded support package that provides innovative international companies with a springboard to success in the region.
Through strategic connections and vital support, the Global Growth Programme unlocks new investment opportunities for ambitious international companies like EcoFlow.
We are thrilled to welcome them to the West Midlands and have no doubt that through the GGP, EcoFlow will play an active role in the region’s innovative clean-energy future.
