Specialist Future Mobility Support Packages

Carefully curated by a team of industry experts, the Global Growth Programme’s Future Mobility hub consists of five sub-sector packages, each designed to offer bespoke, specialist industry support for companies operating within their respective fields.

Companies selected for the programme can access industry and public sector networks, world-class R&D facilities, highly respected industry experts and unrivalled business support to successfully test, scale and commercialise exciting game-changing transportation technologies.

Automotive Testbed

The Global Growth Programme’s Automotive Testbed, in partnership with the Clean Futures Innovation Accelerator, provides automotive companies with access to specialist engineering support and world-leading R&D opportunities.

This includes using MIRA Technology Park’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, free consultations with Coventry University about access to their specialist Research Institutes, and participation in the Clean Futures Catalyst’s industry workshops and networking events. Choose sponsored office space from a choice of leading Innovation Hubs and be a member of a vibrant community.

Companies receive facilitated introductions to the West Midlands Future Mobility ecosystem and tailored business support including commercial, funding and recruitment assistance.

Clean Transport Accelerator

The Global Growth Programme, in partnership with NatWest and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), offers participants the opportunity to apply for their Clean Transport Accelerator. This initiative supports Future Mobility industry businesses in developing products and services to help the UK achieve its net-zero ambitions.

Participants receive six months of specialist support from NatWest and WMG, including access to manufacturing equipment, 1-1 coaching, networking opportunities, and thought-leadership events.

Concurrently, they benefit from the Global Growth Programme’s nine-month package of fully funded innovation workspace, tailored business support including commercial, funding, and recruitment assistance and introductions to the West Midlands Future Mobility ecosystem.

Electrification

The West Midlands stands at the forefront of electrification innovation, boasting cutting-edge R&D facilities and plans for large-scale battery production. Through the Global Growth Programme’s electrification package, companies can access world-class support for developing state-of-the-art aircraft and vehicle batteries.

This includes consultations with industry experts from both Warwick Manufacturing Group’s Energy Innovation Centre and Coventry University’s Cell Prototyping Centre, access to specialist manufacturing expertise and sponsored office space at one of six leading regional Innovation Hubs. Become a member of a vibrant innovation community, receive introductions to the broader electrification ecosystem, and benefit from dedicated business support covering commercial introductions, grant funding, professional advice, recruitment, talent acquisition and securing local investment.

Rail Technology Testbed

The West Midlands offers unparalleled opportunities for companies developing cutting-edge rail technologies. Through the Global Growth Programme’s Rail Technology Testbed, businesses gain access to expert engineering support and world-leading facilities.

This includes consultations with the BCIMO to access state-of-the-art rail testbeds and R&D facilities and access to the Rail Commercial Investment Hub.

Scaling Advanced Manufacturing

The West Midlands is one of the most well-connected, innovative and advanced manufacturing hubs in the world.

Through our Scaling Advanced Manufacturing module, transportation and mobility companies can access specialist support to scale-up their manufacturing processes. With guidance from experts at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) and Coventry University’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering (AME), businesses can transition from bench to mass-market production.

This comprehensive package includes initial discovery workshops, bespoke proposals from industry experts, sponsored office space at one of six leading Innovation Hubs and facilitated introductions to the Future Mobility ecosystem. You’ll also receive tailored business support covering grant funding, professional advice, recruitment, talent acquisition and securing local investment.
