Companies selected for the programme can access industry and public sector networks, world-class R&D facilities, highly respected industry experts and unrivalled business support to successfully test, demonstrate and scale exciting, game-changing technologies.

Battery Storage

Gain unparalleled access to Warwick Manufacturing Group’s (WMG) Energy Innovation Centre, the UK’s premier battery research facility, to advance your product from concept to mass production. Benefit from expert consultations, scaling support from leading organisations, take sponsored office space from one of six leading West Midlands Innovation Hubs and become a member of its innovative community.

In addition, you’ll benefit from tailored business support and connections to the West Midlands’ CleanTech ecosystem to drive the development and production of next-generation fixed and mobile batteries.

Bioenergy: Green Hydrogen Demonstrator

Commercialise cutting-edge technologies to produce Green Hydrogen from Biomass with DIATOMIC’s Hydrogen Demonstrator, in collaboration with Aston University’s Energy & Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI).

Up to six businesses will receive nine months of fully funded support, including access to state-of-the-art production facilities at EBRI’s Wolfsen Centre, co-located analytical and processing laboratories, and research assistance from PhD students.

Additional benefits include a sponsored workspace at one of six leading West Midlands Innovation Hubs, membership in its innovative community, facilitated industry introductions and tailored business support with a specialist advisor for commercial, funding and recruitment needs.

Converting Bioproducts into materials for manufacturing at EBRI, Aston Uni

Bioenergy: Biochar Collaborations

CleanTech firms have a unique opportunity to collaborate with Aston University’s Energy & Bioproducts Research Institute and the Centre for the Circular Economy and Advanced Sustainability on developing and commercialising low-carbon products based on biochar.

Up to six companies will receive nine months of fully funded support, including access to technical and commercialisation expertise, sponsored workspace at one of six leading Innovation Hubs and access to a close-knit innovative community. Additional benefits include introductions to the West Midlands’ CleanTech ecosystem and tailored business support with a dedicated advisor for commercial, funding, and recruitment needs.

Construction & Land Remediation

Locate your company in Wolverhampton’s Green Innovation Corridor and leverage the expertise of the UK’s National Brownfield Institute, a leader in modern brownfield regeneration.

Benefit from a fully funded support program that includes access to specialist laboratory facilities, an immersive product demonstration suite, cutting-edge research in brownfield remediation, and choose sponsored office space from a selection of leading West Midlands Innovation Hubs.

Join a vibrant innovation community, gain introductions to the West Midlands’ Built Environment ecosystem, and receive tailored business support for commercial, funding, and recruitment needs.

Decarbonised Heat & Power

For businesses advancing next-generation technologies in fuel cells, hydrogen production, smart grids, and decarbonising heating and cooling, the Decarbonised Heat and Power package at Tyseley Energy Park (TEP) offers comprehensive support.

In partnership with the Birmingham Energy Institute, this package includes flexible office and industrial space, access to specialist laboratory facilities and research support, and introductions to key local energy networks. Businesses also gain exposure to high-status political and industrial leaders, membership in the TEP community, and access to the broader West Midlands CleanTech ecosystem.

Tailored business support is provided through monthly meetings with a specialist advisor for commercial, funding, and recruitment needs.

Waste-to-Value Demonstrator

Accelerate your entry into the UK’s circular economy with the Waste-to-Value Demonstrator package at Tyseley Energy Park, part of Birmingham’s Energy and Innovation Quarter. Gain access to flexible office and industrial space, the University of Birmingham’s laboratory facilities and tailored research support at the Birmingham Energy Innovation Centre.

Additional benefits include introductions to NHS pilots and procurement via Health Innovation West Midlands, connections to TEP’s extensive partner network, exposure to high-profile political and industrial leaders, and future access to the National Centre for the Decarbonisation of Heat. Membership in the TEP community, access to the regional CleanTech ecosystem and bespoke business support is also provided.
