Wavensmere Homes
Wavensmere Homes has garnered a national reputation for residential-led brownfield transformation schemes, which result in vibrant and distinctive new communities. The business completed 522 houses and apartments during 2023, achieving a turnover of £100m.
The Birmingham-headquartered housebuilder is currently constructing the £175m Nightingale Quarter scheme in Derby city centre, the £106m Belgrave Village development in central Birmingham, and the £130m Barrelman’s Point scheme, which is the redevelopment of HMS Ganges located on the Shotley Peninsula in Suffolk.
The average selling price of Wavensmere’s one- and two-bedroom apartments during 2023 was £175,000, while the price for its two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom family houses averaged out to £325,000.
The multi-award-winning team is on track to deliver 500 homes during 2024, which will result in a turnover of £115m.
James Dickens, Managing Director of Wavensmere Homes said: “When establishing Wavensmere Homes nine years ago, I set out to uncover sites with soul to reanimate – by taking inspiration from the unique historic character. Getting it right captivates the community and brings about the regeneration of the wider area.
“We look for derelict sites that our industry peers don’t have the finances, resources, or imagination to touch. Constrained land that many have regarded as unviable for residential development. Constructing attainable, rather than unaffordable homes is our raison d’être.
“Transformational brownfield developments require a workable land mass and density, which necessitates a partnership approach with councils and other key stakeholders. We use nationally acclaimed architects to reimagine vacant land that has often been the target of anti-social behaviour. While the industry at large is at loggerheads with local planning authorities and NIMBYs, our distinctiveness results in highly effective working relationships. We have proven that our new communities result in much better symbiotic relationships with existing neighbours.”
In September 2023, the company was crowned Residential Developer of the Year at the Insider East Midlands Property Awards.
