New to the West Midlands

US broadcaster Rockefellas TV opens first European studio in Birmingham

Los Angeles-based Rockefellas TV has opened B-1 Studios in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, its first dedicated European studio.

Choosing Birmingham for its first dedicated European studio gives the broadcaster a permanent UK production base and is a clear vote of confidence in the city’s film, television and production offer.

Investing and expanding here

Volvo Group commits £24 million to Coventry

Volvo Group has started construction on a £24 million regional distribution centre at SEGRO Park Coventry.

The 91,000 sq ft facility will consolidate parts operations currently based in Rugby and is expected to become operational in the second half of 2027. It represents a significant new capital commitment from a global automotive business already operating in the region.

BlackLine expands its Birmingham footprint

Global software company BlackLine has opened a new office at 10 Brindleyplace to support its growing UK team.

The decision on taking a ten-year lease is a significant, long-term commitment from a global software company.

DIRKS Consumer Logistics expands in Coventry

DIRKS Consumer Logistics has committed to a 306,000 sq ft facility at SEGRO Park Coventry.

The German-owned business already operates in Coventry and has chosen the city again for its next phases of growth. The new facility is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.

£500 million+ Kelvin facility reaches its next milestone

enfinium’s £500 million-plus Kelvin facility in West Bromwich received its first 100 tonnes of waste in July as commissioning progressed.

The milestone moves the £500 million-plus Kelvin facility into its next phase of commissioning, bringing a major long-term energy infrastructure investment in West Bromwich closer to full operation.

Scaling from the West Midlands

Offa secures £6.5 million for its next stages of growth

Solihull-based fintech Offa has completed a £6.5 million working-capital raise to support technology, operations, customer experience and national expansion.

The raise follows a period in which the company doubled its workforce to 55 people over the past year and moved into a new Solihull headquarters. It shows a West Midlands fintech raising external capital while continuing to scale from its regional base.

Furbnow raises £2.5 million to scale nationally

Birmingham-based Furbnow has secured £2.5 million in seed funding to grow its team, technology platform and home-retrofit services across the UK.

The funding gives the proptech business fresh capital for national growth while continuing to build from Birmingham, as it enters its next stages of growth.

July’s strongest signal is the breadth of activity rather than one single announcement. Coventry attracted fresh commitments from Volvo, TaiSan and DIRKS across automotive, battery technology and logistics; Birmingham added Rockefellas’ first European studio and a larger BlackLine footprint; and Solihull-based Offa secured £6.5 million to support its next phase of growth. Alongside the Kelvin facility moving further into commissioning, that gives us a mix of new investment, reinvestment and scale-up activity across several parts of the region.

For investors, that mix matters. There’s current business confidence across advanced manufacturing, technology, creative industries, fintech and clean energy – rather than momentum resting on one sector, one place or one type of investment.
