Bruntwood SciTech has launched the Serendip Prop-Tech 2021 Technology Challenge at the Innovation Birmingham Campus, the region’s leading digital tech hub, inviting the region’s best digital innovators and SMEs to come forward to solve challenges faced by the construction industry.

The programme, which will provide six months of tailored business support, is seeking SMEs with a digital solution that can tackle the challenges faced by the construction industry when surveying buildings. Successful applicants invited onto the programme will receive support from Bruntwood SciTech’s investment coaches and business mentors and the corporate partners in this Serendip programme, Balfour Beatty and Bouygues UK, to drive their business’ growth.

The Serendip programme has a proven track record and is widely recognised for its successful demand-led innovation programme within the region. Previous and current partners include Barclays Eagle Labs, Gymshark, National Express, West Midlands Academic Health Science Network and HS2. The numbers speak for themselves; one of the recent programmes generated £1m total funding, 90 growth activities, 80 commercial activities, 8 commercial trials and £216k commercial contracts.

Located in the heart of the city’s Knowledge Quarter, the Innovation Birmingham Campus is part of the Bruntwood SciTech network, and is set to be home to the recently announced 120,000 sq ft Enterprise Wharf – Birmingham’s first smart-enabled building.
