SuperTech

SuperTech is spearheading the technology revolution in Business, Professional and Financial Services in the West Midlands.

As home to a professional services sector of over 48,400 companies, the West Midlands has one of the strongest offerings of Proftech for foreign direct investment.

SuperTech sits at the heart of this, driving innovation and collaboration. It is a group of Proftech leaders who enhance connectivity within the sector.

The group, made up of Business, Professional and Financial Service leaders from across the economy, is working to grow the local tech cluster. They promote collaboration between different sectors and generate opportunities for companies looking to invest in the UK through efforts like the SuperTech Connector Series and the SuperTech Seeds Pre-Accelerator.

Who is SuperTech?

Launched in 2021, the group is led by business leaders from a range of high-profile companies, including Tony Randle of Shoosmiths, David Stewart, COO of Wesleyan, and Cliff Dennett of Bruntwood SciTech. All members are passionate about the West Midlands and what companies can achieve here.

Together, they aim to push innovation in the West Midlands, support collaboration across the sectors, and help small businesses get the financial and networking support they need to grow and thrive. They utilise programs, mentorship and events like the Brum PropJam Hackathon.

SuperTech Seeds Pre-Accelerator

One of the ways that SuperTech helps business ideas come to fruition is through the SuperTech Seeds Pre-Accelerator. This programme works with people to develop their ideas and turn them into thriving businesses.

They do this by tackling the real-world problems that can stop amazing businesses from getting the start they deserve. Successful applicants can get £10,000 worth of seed investment towards their business idea, and an expert no_code developer to help build a minimum viable product.

Not only can SuperTech help you realise a business idea, but successful applicants receive support through 1:1 mentorship, access to a hotdesk in central Birmingham, and access to the SuperTech community.

SuperTech has helped us in every way possible. We couldn’t fault the process. Support from the mentors Suzi and Hilary through to the technical development with Million Labs has been brilliant.

SuperTech Connector Series

SuperTech understands the local economy and is well placed to welcome foreign investment SMEs to the region. Through the Connector Series, SuperTech helps smaller companies get their foot in the door, setting up meetings and introductions with the professional powerhouses of the West Midlands.

The group facilitates monthly meetings between leaders of SMEs and executives of big-name firms. Representatives from Barclays, BNP Paribas, Shoosmiths, Paragon, Wesleyan, Bruntwood SciTech, Unity Trust Bank and others are all involved.

Get involved with the Connector Series

Being able to get direct access and speak to senior management, understand their business needs better, and explore potential collaboration opportunities was incredibly valuable for us. We learned a lot from engaging with businesses through the Connector Series and ended up working with one of the businesses to test our product as part of our private beta.

Why the West Midlands?

In the Kalifa Review of 2021, Birmingham was identified as one of only a few ‘established’ Fintech clusters outside of London. With regional strengths in Proftech, Fintech, Insuretech, and with 30% growth in BPFS in the region in the last five years, the West Midlands is showing how powerful tech can be for innovation.

As a thriving local economy, and a strong network of business professionals dedicated to developing the future of BPFS, we are a lucrative place for any ambitious new company. The leaders at SuperTech recognise and champion that, making room for new businesses to grow.

Free support services

We bring together a project team from relevant organisations across the region. This team includes property agents, recruitment consultants, public sector departments and universities. It delivers a comprehensive support package to quickly and easily help you establish and scale your business in the UK.
